A Lost Love?

Today I watched my love escape
Was it not meant to be?
Each time I give it to another love
It never comes back to me.

Brown eyes sparkling oh so bright
Words whispered softly in the night
Arms that once held me oh so tight
Are just memories for a poet to rewrite.

Today I felt my heart bleed once more
Tears trickled down my tender cheeks
I wish I may I wish I might
Find the love with an anchor tight!

Each time I give my heart away.
The pain is too much to bear.
So I’ll just keep it docked in Lover’s bay
And gently rock upon the waves forever and a day!
